c1978: Presentation of Mike Whitby trophy

Rory Quinn  writes:  Mike Whitby was one of the HMSO footballers and he died in a tragic road accident. If I remember correctly, his car came off the road at night but passing vehicles did not stop or report it and as a result he died from his injuries in the car. His friends raised money to commemorate him and purchased the cup which was to be awarded to the most successful team in each season. Peter is presenting the cup to the HMSO football club of which I was chairman at the time.
 
It was a suitable memorial and a tribute both to Mike and his friends who thought so much of him. Peter was the moving force in raising the money. It was quite a moving occasion.
