1961: Drury Lane Card School

Philip Marriage writes: Lunchtime Card Schools, were one way of increasing (or decreasing) income amongst apprentices. The game was invariably solo whist, the stakes modest, but the odd shilling or two did made a difference.
Amongst those I still recognise are Jack Duppon, John Scott, Brian Sawyer and, in nearby Covent Garden, Malcolm Rosenthal.
