Hi Reg, You may not have picked it up but the replacement of MCSP by Capita is now in the news. The transition process (of which I was a victim) has led to new pensioners not receiving either their lump sums or first pension payments. The overall processing backlog looks as though it affects many more people than thought at the time of transition. Here’s a link to the BBC News: Retired civil servants left in pension limbo.
The major issue as I discovered over the tax code problem I had is getting someone to talk to. The telephone response system is hopelessly overloaded. The alternative, an online portal does not have a chat facility. I wrote to my MP about my issues to discover that they were minor compared with some others. He had received an influx of complaints and has passed these on (including mine) to the responsible minister.
It will get sorted out, no doubt, but I’m thinking the service will be in difficulties for some time.
Best wishes, Eric.
Thank you for your helpful note, Eric, These are not problems we expected to have to contend with upon retirement. What a world – from so many points of view! May all get settled soon.
Best wishes, Reg.
