Eileen Woodhouse acted as the mother hen to the happy brood that was S6B, buying dictation equipment. Besides myself and Eileen there was Don Mash and Maureen Wickham. She was the source of good humour and kept us going. She queried the description of herself as loquacious in her annual report but took it in good part.
Don started a craze for writing poetry which lasted until Maureen showed a real talent and produced a far too accurate and hilarious description of our HEO, nick-named Anguish, for his difficulty in reaching a decision. It was so good that it was dynamite. Sadly Maureen destroyed it before we had a chance to make a copy.
Harry Teedon headed up the adjacent section buying typewriters and he was a recent casualty.
Hello Rory. My word, that has brought back some memories! A woman who lives nearby and knows that I am ex HMSO mentioned last year that she has occasional contact with Don Mash, who is living in the West country these days.
This photo from 1979 shows him, top left, at the glamour parade that was the SPICE unit in Supplies, 1979. We’ll see if anyone can come up with a copy of the missing Ode to Angus Griffiths.
Best wishes, Reg.
