We were pleased to receive this link to the very interesting site that goes by the name ‘A London Inheritance.’ Those who knew Atlantic House, in Holborn, will have many memories jogged.
John Eason adds: Atlantic House was number 40 something I recall, so if that is right number 6 would have been down towards the Old Bailey I reckon. There must have been older buildings further down on our side of the street that were bombed out and were replaced by the Remington building, which had an Embassy cigarette coupon shop on its ground floor. On the other side of the road past Holborn Viaduct Station (now gone, I think) there were a few shops including the ABC cafe, which would have had flats above them. There seems to be a restaurant “Uzumaki” at number 6 these days. A far cry from the Aerated Bread Company, which was a good step down from the Lyons Corner House chain.
