1939-2025
The sad news that Charlie has died was passed on to us by his friend Michael Hickman.
Charlie was born on 13 January 1939, joining HMSO Print in August 1970.
Michael’s note gave the following details:
I am very sorry to have to report that Charles Newton Hartley (Charlie) sadly passed away at his home in the early hours of Thursday 28th August. Charlie worked for HMSO at Gateshead, Norwich and Chadderton, where he was promoted to Higher Printing and Graphics Officer in 1981.
Outside of work he enjoyed angling and was loyal supporter of his home town football team Ashton United. His great passion however walking which he was still enjoying up until just a couple of months ago.
Charlie is survived by his wife Jennifer.
There will be no Church/Chapel service. The Burial will take place at Glossop Cemetery at 10.30 on Friday the 19th of September.
