1944–2025
The sad news that Isobel died on 29 November 2025, in the Hill Barn Care Home near Norwich, was received from her friend Jane Nightingale.
Isobel was born in Liverpool on 22 September 1944 and moved to London to work as EO in Contracts Division at HMSO Atlantic House on 2 September 1963. She moved to Norwich with the office in 1968, initially living in Brundall. She was working as PB13 in Office Equipment Division when she retired upon privatisation.
Isobel’s nephew Angus has passed on the message that Isobel asked to have a private direct cremation service. Arrangements to celebrate her life will be made in due course.

Andy Taylor adds: So sorry to hear the news about Isobel. I remember doing a supply division roadshow with her at old Trafford cricket ground. I was only expecting a few dozen people. As part of the event I was to give a talk about leasing photocopiers and office equipment. The event proved very popular indeed and we were playing to a full house. I’d asked some chap to move his car from the parking spaces which I’d reserved for an articulated lorry complete with mobile exhibition. He was most indignant that I’d asked him to shift as he was there to umpire some cricket match. I said that’s fine but the lorry driver only passed his test yesterday and it’s a very tight fit. Needless to say he obliged and moved his BMW out the way. As I returned to the pavilion someone told me that was Dickie Bird! It was a great event organised by Isobel and her team, well attended and well put together.
