1952–2026

Michael Aidan was known as Michael Craft when he worked with HMSO, changing his name when he left to live in America. The sad news that Michael has died was received from Del Styan.
He was born on 8 February 1952 and joined HMSO on 2 October 1968, working as Clerical Officer in Publications Division.
Del added the following note:
“I have just received news from his sister that Michael Aidan (Craft) died at his home in California. He worked in Sovereign House as one of the early local recruits to HMSO after dispersal. He then moved in the opposite direction to the not so bright lights of Cornwall House. (His favourite song was ‘Waterloo Sunset’.)
I shared a flat with him and John Block for a short time, and we remained friends since then. He emigrated to the USA in about 1973-4, and worked for a large public sector trade union in California, rising to be a vice president before he retired about 3-4 years ago. He also took a very active part in coaching youth football teams.
His son, wife and grandson moved in the opposite direction to London, and Michael was about to follow them, with a house purchase already under way. He often returned to the UK, and we would meet up, with his visits usually timed to catch the most Norwich City games he could.
I have no details of any funeral arrangements yet. I will forward any as I get them”
