Dee Smallridge testing the consistency of Cow Gum in the new studio on the fourth floor of St Crispins, Norwich, in 1978. In the background may just be seen George Hammond, Ian Dobson, Gerry Watt and Nodge Carnegie. Fred Stubbs moved from London to Norwich early to oversee the building and equipping of the new studio, helped by Iris Walker. For the first time, designers had purpose-built work-stations and brand-new equipment (their old desks in Atlantic House had ‘1936’ stamped underneath).
