A picture from our gathering this year at The Racecourse. The place was packed with pensioners and grandchildren having a pleasant lunch.
We are all a year older except for Ian Dougall, who somehow avoids the ravages of time. Ian is still playing the organ in his local church. Linda Blake distributed her annual puzzle competition, raising money for a cancer charity. As usual, copies were purchased at a £1 a time. Excellent value time waster. I have given my copy to Mrs C to divert her from the puzzles in the local papers and The Times. It will idle away the hours over the next few months and we may even submit the results to Linda. Geoff Mickleburgh has a new electric bike which he used to reach the venue, he is clearly feeling his age. At least he uses his bike; mine is folded up in a corner of the garage. Rod Durkin is regularly walking with the Ramblers and is “back marking” a short walk I am leading at Garvestone this week. Maurice Curtis, our excellent chair, controlled proceedings and Geoff Sinden fed his expanding “knowledge bump” from The Racecourse carvery.
I hope you are well and enjoying the prospect of Spring.
Brian
Hello Brian, Excellent to see such a happy group of ex HMSO Paper Buyers. The only thing that has changed is that all the glasses are empty, and some of them look as though they just contained water! There is nothing I can usefully add, other than my hope that you all continue to enjoy this annual event well into the future.
All the very best to you all, Reg.
