The sad news that Tom has died was notified on the CCTA Facebook site on 19 June 2021.
Tom joined HMSO in November 1960, working for a time in Domestic Systems, Bunhill Row, as a Technical Officer. He moved to Norwich with dispersal, and transferred to CCTA, Gildengate House. He was a popular colleague, sociable companion, and capable darts player in the Sovereign Club competitions.
The EDP funeral notice can be seen here.
Pat Tate adds: I first came across Tom in the sixties, we were both taking the CS aptitude test to weed out potential computer programmers. I assume we must have reached their standard, and he went to CCB (Central Computer Bureau) and I went to Technical Development where I joined Ken Lowe and Derek Wintle. Tom also played football in the Inter Divisional six a side league, and golf with the HMSO golf society. I subsequently came across him in Edinburgh at the CS college. Tom was a good chap with a most infectious laugh. He played golf with Richard Kaye at Barnham Broom and every time I bumped into them we were always going to arrange a fourball with me and Ernie Downs somehow we never got round to it, left it a bit late now.
