17 December 2020 – From Angela and John Barker

Good morning Reg

I hope that you and your family are well and looking forward to Christmas. It is certainly going to be difficult this year. Please convey my thanks to you and your team who keep HMSO alive on its web site. It is always good to see how ex-colleagues are getting on. Sadly there is some sad news, but since it nearly 25 years since HMSO ceased to exist we have to accept that.

It was sad to see that Ed McIKendrick had died. He was most unusual in that he was an active IPCS union member even when he was in a fairly senior position. I went to five IPCS conferences as a delegate and Ed was at all of them as a teller who went round collecting the votes on any motions that had been discussed. He probably attended many more than I went to.

Best wishes to you and your family,

Angela and John

Hello Angela and John, Many thanks for your kind thoughts and seasonal wishes, which I have forwarded to The HMSOldies Team. As you say, too many sad items, but shafts of sunlight such as yours are most welcome! Fingers and all other parts crossed that we will be able to have a ‘Wig and Pen’ lunchtime in the sun, later in 2021.

Best wishes to you and yours, Reg.
