27 Oct 2018 – From Ann-Marie Simpson

Hello Reg

I’m Sinclair Simpson’s wife and thought I would let you know that he recently fractured his hip – not a fall, just crumbly bones it seems. After nearly 3 weeks in the N&N he’s now in for rehab at North Walsham Memorial Hospital. He hasn’t been able to meet up in your groups for a while now, having had a series of major illnesses since 2009 – after no problems at all up ’til then – but we did manage to get to The Eagle a couple of years ago.

He’s still in touch with Keith Riley – a fellow QPR supporter, rare as hen’s teeth in Norfolk! – and John Saville amazingly also a QPR supporter who now happens to live in our neighbourhood. We also see Fred Stubbs from time to time.

I know he follows your site regularly, so will want to do some catching up when he’s home again.

All best wishes

Ann-Marie

Hello Ann-Marie, How good of you to keep us up to date as regards Sinclair. As coincidence would have it, I see that today – 27 October 2018 – is exactly 60 years since the 25 year-old Sinclair joined HMSO Accounts Division as Printing Officer. Incidentally, other Accounts Division POs listed on the same page of the Staff List may ring bells: JC Travell, RN Lazar, A Morton, TG Smith, AWH Waller, JM Kerby, A Hunter, J Fowler, AH Dobson, RN Smith, KH Ranger.

I remember your being at one of the ‘Eagle’ lunchtimes. Please pass on our best wishes to Sinclair for a good and speedy recovery, so that we can see you both for another sociable lunchtime. I see John S and Fred S occasionally, but have not seen Keith Riley for some time. I did not know of the QPR connection, but will look out for the team’s doubtless success during the coming year (I write as a disinterested Tooting and Mitcham FC supporter!).

All the very best to you and to Sinclair. Reg.
