We were delighted to read some good news in the Eastern Daily Press dated 7 November 2019 (here) to the effect that Auriol Hughes has been granted the honour Freeman of Thorpe St. Andrew after more than forty years of service to the community.
Auriol joined PS Division, Sovereign House, in 1973 and was much appreciated for her courteous and efficient approach to Personnel work – most notably the Flextime system which she managed in the later years of her career with HMSO.
Following retirement, Auriol was (and still is) frequently to be seen on the streets of Thorpe St. Andrew undertaking good works, including collections for local charities.
