The information that Danny has died came from Steve Linehan via Bob Allder on 31 October 2022.

Steve Linehan adds: Danny started his print career as an apprentice Machine Minder and like all apprentices went on to become a Journeyman. Danny joined HMSO London in August 1974 as a Printing Officer working in the Costing Department of St. Stephen’s Parliamentary Press. At that time HMSO encouraged its management staff to attend various business courses. I first met Danny in 1976 whilst I was on such a course at the London College of Printing. That was the start of our friendship. It was Danny that encouraged me to take a job as a Compositor at St. Stephens.

I started in the Night Composing Room of St. Stephens in 1978 where Danny was then the Night Vote Liaison Officer. His wide knowledge of Parliamentary business, its daily papers and the production processes at St. Stephens was an important factor in the maintaining of such tight production deadlines. I was moved onto the Vote Ship very soon after joining the press where Danny was an immense help to both myself and many of the others on the ship. Although Vote production was often very hectic, Danny could always come out with a funny quip or comment and liked to get involved in the nightly banter.

In 1986 Danny was promoted to the role of Day Production Manager (HPGO) and in 1987 when St. Stephen’s closed for good he moved across to the new Parliamentary Press as a Night Production Control Manager (PB10). At both St. Stephens and the Parliamentary Press Danny was always at the centre of production. He would always be at the various pressure points during the shift planning or making production decisions on the fly. Danny remained the Production Control manager until the late 1990’s when he left HMSO and was immediately employed by Parliament in the Editorial Office of the Votes and Proceedings Department, where he remained until his retirement.

I am immensely grateful to have known and worked with Danny for so many years, he was a smashing bloke.
