We received the sad news that Ivan has died from his son Steve, as shown below:

‘My Dad Ivan sadly died peacefully on Armistice Day 11 November at Priscilla Bacon Lodge after a long illness. Ivan joined the Stationery Office (from Morris Printers) in 1970 and retired In January 1997.

He worked in the Print Procurement division and I believe his first boss was Peter Vivian. Peter was the Norfolk County Chess captain at the time, and as a result Dad taught me to play chess as I have done with enjoyment for many years. Ivan’s main interest however was Darts. He represented the HMSO division in various regional events during the 1980s and would regularly be seen lunchtimes in the Sovereign bar in the office playing darts with Geoff Went and Kevin White.

In later years his bosses were Eddie McDonald and Donald Clay – although I didn’t know them that well both Eddie and Don were characters for quite different reasons. I know my Dad never regretted leaving his job at Morris Printers and becoming a Civil Servant. After a long illness my Dad can now rest in peace’.

Ivan joined HMSO Print on 9 February 1970 and was graded P&GO in October 1987. Ivan is pictured above (on the right) with a happy-looking Granville Reed.

Kevin White adds: Sad news indeed. I used to play with Ivan at the Stanley and also within HMSO. In the CSSC Darts Competition, we entered a team (Geoff Went, Ivan Moore, Rod Chapman and myself) and went on to represent the Eastern Region in the finals in Derby (official time off to travel as well) where we lost in the National Final to a team from Edinburgh.
