I received a telephone call last week from Audrey Bent, wife of Ron to tell me that her husband for over sixty years had died peacefully with her and the family around him. Ron had been in a nursing home as he was suffering from the onset of Alzheimer’s and had suffered a lung infection which he was unable to recover from. He started his career in the industry as a compositor and joined HMSO on 19/09/1955 as a Printing Officer. He was the last GM of St Stephen’s Parliamentary Press until it was closed in 1986. Ron’s funeral service will take place at Bournemouth Crematorium on Wednesday 24th October at 12.30pm.
